Austin, Texas artist Connor Kelly aka Fomentum is a versatile, all-around talent, someone truly passionate about music as an art form. While Fomentum is an electronic-focused artist their sound incorporates art from all across time to educate listeners on the different universes of sound out there. Fomentum is a multi-genre producer, instrumentalist, audio engineer and booking manager, looking to build community amongst their peers and supporters. The last few years has Fomentum gaining momentum releasing their debut EP alongside a slew of singles each housing their own unique adventure to embark on. When this is combined with the sense of euphoria showgoers leave with after one of their sets, it’s clear Fomentum provides an atmosphere that goes deeper than “vibes' and flash. As we hit the halfway point in 2023, the Texas artist is ready to open the floodgates with an eclectic set of projects coming our way later this year. 

Fomentum was destined to have an impact in music and art as both of their parents had a huge involvement in the art form. Connor’s mother was a professional dancer in tune with the beat and the rhythm. Their dad is a vocalist whose impact spans over 6 decades singing and working with various bands. Between affirmation from their mother and listening to records on the way to school with their dad, Fomentum’s journey into music was solidified. “Both of these combined in a way where now most of the music I like is determined based on the drum beat and vocals,” Fomentum explains. As the Texas artist entered 6th grade he’d pick up bass and carry that with them all the way until they graduated high school. Fast forward to 2017 where the prodigy would attend Electric Forest in Michigan, leading up to the event Fomentum was attending EDM shows. “By the time I was at the festival…I knew that I wanted to learn how to DJ and make the music after seeing the beauty, connection and unique/cool blends of music that it was fostering,” Fomentum explains. Thus their journey into music & creation truly began.

Connor’s art supersedes the stereotypical spectrum of music. At face value, Fomentum’s music combines dubstep with a number of other genres in a way that encourages more than just listening. They want the listener to have “a feeling of wanting to come back for more to investigate and dig for themselves,” Fomentum explains. With 10 singles under their belt, Fomentum stretches their hands providing the listener with an experience that alters their soul and causes them to engage with music on a deeper level. It doesn’t stop there as Fomentum is also focused on bringing people together and creating community. One of the many ways they’re doing this is through ‘Fomentum Radio’ mixes’ showcasing the vast universe of music and the people behind it. Fomentum spent the last year building with other like-minded musicians and as we hit Summer 2023, we’ll begin to see the fruits of this construction. Fomentum, BUGGY, Manic Muse, HVNTER and Doobie Bock are coming together to host their first takeover event and will be the debut of the quintet as a collective. The Texas artist is also gearing up to release a number of EPs and mixes, the first of which will be released at the end of August.
